The StoryGuider pre-K social-emotional curriculum from the ENnie awarded TTRPGkids web resource is getting a major update!  AND WE NEED YOU TO HELP MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Supporting this project means that TTRPGkids will be able to hire artists (including two teens) to re-illustrate these stories, allow for physical book printing, create easy use BIG BOOK compendiums, and support donations to The American Library Association's International Games Month.

Story interaction versus just listening

When it comes to helping your kid learn to love books later in life, we all know that reading to them at an early age and exposing them to all kind of different stories is extremely important.

The same is true for fostering creativity and encouranging them to be a storytellers themselves.

StoryGuider combines elements from early books for kids and tabletop RPGs, draws on inspiration from Choose-Your-Own Adventure games, and stems from work for a pre-K social emotional learning curriculum to create an experience for your kid that will help them:
  • love reading
  • think critically about stories
  • develop social and emotional skills
  • enjoy screen-free fun

Easy for families and teachers

In addition to all the benefits that this provides for kids, it provides something very beneficial to the storyguide (you, their reader) as well... it is easy to jump into!

There's no prep work or planning involved, unless you want to add some of the extra, very optional, enrichment activities that come with each adventure.  All you need to do is open the book, and it will walk you through running a full story game with your kid(s).

Art upgrades!

The original StoryGuider series began releasing in 2021 as a la carte downloadable games with art from the writer, Steph from TTRPGkids.  While this art served the needs of the material at that time within the available budget, they have wanted to update it ever since.

They are bringing on a team of artists including known community members, like Leo Assis, who illustrated "Making a Tabletop RPG for YOUR Particular Kid", and upcoming teen artists, Amelia and Julia, who are looking to break into the world of TTRPG illustration.  Each artist will be in charge of illustrating a trilogy for a different character so each set of stories will have it's own special feel.

The vast majority of this project's budget will go towards making sure that these artists are paid fairly for their work.

New book compatible format

When StoryGuider was initially released, it was as a TTRPG storytelling guide with decision trees that required interpretation by the facilitator, and it included separate printable coloring sheets for kids.

Based on feedback and lessons learned from reviewing over 100 kid-friendly TTRPG projects via the TTRPGkids website mission, StoryGuider is being reformated for easy use and accessibility!

While the original version will still be digitally available, the new version will follow a guided book format with the decision tree integrated into the story (i.e. "choice A, go to page 7" and "choice B, go to page 12") and will have art pages alongside the reading material for easy of use and repeatability.

Printed a la carte and compilation books

This big update will also come with options to choose a la carte zines or one of the big compilation books!

Whether you want to try only one advenutre, get one full trilogy, or get all 30 adventures via the hardcover BIG ADVENTURE compendiums, you can do that!

As a parent and educator myself, I know how budgets and purchase decisions work, so I wanted to make sure you would have the flexibility to work with your particular needs and have a sliding scale for picking the content you want to try with your kid(s).
