Alaska Summer Floral Scarves by Certified Tribal Artist

Hello, my Tlingit name is Tsoonklah, Tlingit for “Dream Mother”, “Mother of All Dreams”. I am a Certified Tribal Artist that designs and makes hand knit and woven (rigid heddle loom) crafts and hand dye yarns. My crafts are made with the patterns I created which are also interchangeable. They feature traditional tribal art along with patterns I designed to complement and help illustrate the meanings or stories that correspond with the traditional art. These summer scarves will be similar to the scarves I make for winter (as seen in photo), except they will be made with lace or fingering/sock weight yarns that are lighter in weight; and cotton or silk blend yarns that are more comfortable to wear all year, including summer. I hand dye the yarns with acid dyes and food dyes, and the blends I normally use are more eco-friendly, non-superwash and are more sustainable than the fibers/blends that are typically used in knit or woven crafts. Superwash treated wool yarns are chemically treated, usually with chlorine gas and strip away all the beneficial properties that make wool yarns so. The wool yarns I use are not scratchy or itchy, they’re soft to the touch and can be comfortably worn next to the skin. My skin is also sensitive, and I’m mildly allergic to petroleum/plastic based fibers, which is why I use all natural fibers or blends that from a particular yarn mill that utilizes recycled nylon (their recycled nylon doesn’t trigger my allergies & is also makes up a very low percentage of the yarn). 
Each scarf will be made first come, first served; estimate it may take approximately 8 weeks to make each one; I will not be able to offer refunds or returns due to the handmade, unique qualities for each craft and I am creating this event to help replace the funds that were lost when housing authority did not repair leaks/plumbing despite multiple requests & a significant amount of my materials were ruined by flooding, water damage.
