WELCOME TO PROSIPIO
HISTORIC is a grimdark fantasy card-based Role Playing Game for 2-6 players and a Story Leader, made to be able to be picked up and played in Short, Medium, or Long sessions. Experience the world, dungeon delve, and protect your soul from the creatures that want them. Using stickers to augment cards you play with, this game gains a historic legacy the more it is played.
Play one-shots or ongoing campaigns, perfect for convention or one-night plays as well as multi-session stories.
On this burnt and blackened world, an annihilating sun scorches the world above as burning, oil dripping angelic machines known as Aeons whirl overhead in the skies. The Ensu live beneath the surface in their Barrow Cities, meandering throughout the world's substructures. They have for generations done their best to avoid the Aeons in the sky, or the cruel, hungering Malefact who make their meat-hives near the surface and deep in the caves.
The Ensu avoid these creatures to not be stolen away into the Aeon Song, or consumed by the Malefact's endless hunger, certainly, but more than anything to keep their souls. For Ensu have very malleable, alterable souls. The Aeon have found with preparation, an Ensu soul can be made to sing the Great Glory Verses greater than 100 Aeonic Angels, glorifying and empowering their great machine god for an eternity of rotations. Likewise, the Malefact have learnt that they can increase their numbers and feed the Hunger in the Deep for years on end with properly aligned violent souls, and the Ensu are not so difficult to push to this.
In HISTORIC: The Road Eternal, you play Ensu known as Betrayers. You have left the safety of the deep Barrows to ride the Road Eternal, a meandering road on the surface of the annihilated world. You will play the game using cards, with unique decks based on which Path you take. Will you be the Malefact Bonecutter, drawing weapons out from your body in the form of bones and blood, technique learned from Malefact themselves? Or will you be the singing machine body of the Aeon Caller, able to imbue items with power with your machine song, perhaps even summoning lesser Aeonic Angels for your battles?
... Or will you try your hand at consuming organs of the corpses you find on your travels, divining the future and crafting potions, salves, and balms from your own waste to heal your allies as the Organ Eater? Perhaps you will give up your body's hands to craft arcane hands to be a hand-to-hand expert, or cast esoteries through your magic sacrifices of the hands you smith as the Maker of Hands!
... Or might you fight your own soul's desire to abandon your horrid physical form as the Caged Wraith, experiencing both the need to be free or ensouled, a wretched body and a powerful spector. Or will you be the stalwart ally, burdened with armor and tools, weapons, and relics in the form of the Trophy Collector? You can be a banner for your party, empowering their actions, or the selfish collector who empowers your own abilities with your many tools and weapons. With art by the impossibly skilled Salty Water, HISTORIC will take you on journeys across three phases of play. You begin the game with your Campfire moments, crafting your abilities, cleaning your tools, eating your food. Prepare for the journey ahead.
Then you mount up to the Road Eternal on your Ride-- do you ride a motorcycle made of Aeonic Angel corpses? A horrific bone-clad lizard? Do you turn your own soul into a howling wraith you ride screaming across the eternal road? You ride to outrun the sun, who comes ever closer. Do you find a well of souls to anchor your soul to should you die? Or perhaps a city with hidden goods in its largest structures?
And as the sun approaches, you will Delve to avoid its annihilating rays, entering dungeons and barrows where you will put your mettle to the test, battle creatures, discover ruins, find artifacts and tools, and ultimately fight a boss for the chance to claim Beacons in the form of long dead betrayers like yourselves. Should you die on your journey, the beacons will shatter and you will be reborn of the last Well of Souls you found.
Gameplay can be picked up and played, with cards determining your adventures and abilities, without preparation.
Will you ride the road Historic?
