What’s Special?
  • Edge Lords is designed to simulate the feel of actual swordplay—the split-second choices and strategies you have to make.
  • This is a real-time combat game. What does that mean? Fights move fast! There are no turns. Agility is key. Still, a smart player can easily shift the tides of battle with patient gameplay—waiting for the right moment to deal heavy blows.
  • It’s asymmetrical! For those unfamiliar, that means you have multiple characters to choose from each with their own strengths lending to unique play styles.
  • We have a phenomenal artist, Vittoria Pompolani. She’s already completed artwork for another successful crowdfunded project, Gudnak
  • Additionally, Edge Lords is a 2-player game; a classic 1v1 bout.
  • The lore is rich and there are so many more characters and expansions we want to make for this game.
  • This isn’t going to be some one-and-done project. It’s an investment. Supporting us now means (1) You can help us get our name out there to open the door to retailers and publishers, and (2) You’ll get to see what we have in store next even sooner.

Game Overview
There are 3 phases to the game: The Setup, The Bout, and The Rest. Two players will start a Match by selecting characters (Fighters). One player will deal, shuffling the cards beforehand. A card called The Final Blow will be placed at the bottom of each player’s deck.

Before a Bout can begin and cards can be drawn, players choose their stance. For most Fighters, the choices are Aggressive, Balanced, and Defensive.
  • Aggressive: Combo attacks are easier to get, and parrying becomes more difficult.
  • Balanced: The size of your hand increases by +1, however, the additional card you draw is from your opponent's deck.
  • Defensive: The distance a heavy blow moves your fighter is decreased by -1 along with your hand size.

The player with the lowest card plays first—establishing The Line. The Line is determined by the numbers on the card. For either player to continue, they must match at least one number on the character. Players can play as many cards as they like one at a time, or match several at once for a devastating Combo Attack

When a fighter is struck, they retreat backward the appropriate number of spaces. The cards on the table are removed. We enter The Rest phase. Players can choose a new stance to enter and draw up to their new hand size. The fighter who was struck plays the first card.

The Match continues until one fighter is pushed off the edge of the board. Often this happens when a Final Blow card is drawn. Many players attempt to reach their Final Blow first because when one is played their opponent moves back 2 spaces typically AND both decks are reshuffled.

Whoever is left standing is declared The Edge Lord!
