My Goal
The book has already been published in German. For the English-speaking book market, it still needs to be translated and proofread. I place great importance on a professional edit to ensure I deliver the best possible version of this story to you. It would mean the world to me if we could make this happen together.
What You Get
A book that's finally available in your language, and one you're sure to love! Plus, you'll get it two months before the official release date.
While they paused briefly on their journey through the Wilderwood, I (the author ;)) had the chance to speak with Will and Leigh.
Nathan: Welcome, Will and Leigh! Thanks for taking the time to chat with me today. It’s not every day you get to sit down with a thief and a fae warrior. Let’s kick things off with the obvious question: How did you two meet?
Will: Oh, you know, just the usual. “A thief sneaks into forbidden fae territory and gets caught and almost killed by a ridiculously good-looking fae warrior.” Really set the tone for our relationship.
Leigh: Don’t forget the part where you hit me over the head with a rock. That’s when I knew we’d be lifelong friends.
Will (rolls his eyes): I didn’t hit you that hard.
Nathan: Hold on, Will, you knocked Leigh out?
Will: It was a strategic decision, okay? I needed to escape, and he wasn’t exactly letting me waltz out.
Leigh (dryly): And yet, here we are, still stuck together. Funny how that worked out, huh?
Nathan: Speaking of being stuck together, how’s that going for you two? Are you getting along any better now?
Leigh (giving Will a sideways glance): Getting along? Let’s just say, when you spend days trekking through a magical forest where everything wants to eat you, you learn to work together.
Will: Yeah, especially when your so-called enemy keeps saving your life every other day. He’s annoyingly heroic.
Leigh (smirking): Someone’s got to stop you from getting yourself killed.
Nathan: Will, you’re a thief, and Leigh, you’re a warrior sworn to protect the Fae Realm. What’s it like coming from such different worlds?
Will (sarcastically): Oh, it’s a blast. Nothing like the constant fear that your traveling companion might stab you at any moment to keep things interesting.
Leigh: If I wanted to stab him, I would’ve done it by now.
Will: True. He’s also annoyingly patient.
Nathan (laughs): Sounds like an interesting dynamic. Leigh, you’ve been quite vocal about your opinion of humans. Has Will changed that at all?
Leigh (pausing for a moment): I’ve spent most of my life guarding the borders, and in that time, I learned not to trust humans. But Will ... he’s different. Stubborn and reckless, sure, but also loyal and resourceful.
Will: Oh, is that a compliment?
Leigh (deadpan): Don’t get used to it.
Nathan: And Will, what do you think of Leigh?
Will (avoiding eye contact): He’s ... well, he’s not as bad as I thought he’d be. And, uh ... (clears his throat) maybe I misjudged him a bit.
Leigh: A bit?
Will (scoffing): Fine, a lot. Happy?
Nathan: Sounds like there’s more between you two than just a truce. Care to share?
Will (blushing furiously): N-no.
Leigh (smiling faintly): I think that’s something we’re still figuring out.
Nathan: Fair enough! Before we wrap up, any final thoughts for our readers?
Will: Yeah, don’t mess with fae warriors. They’re sneaky bastards.
Leigh (shaking his head): And if you’re a thief, do yourself a favor and don’t set foot in fae territory. It never ends well.
Nathan: Wise advice from both of you. Thanks again for your time, Will and Leigh. Best of luck with your journey through the Wilderwood!
Will & Leigh (in unison): We’re going to need it.
Hey there! I’m Michael Hamannt, a fantasy author. In Germany you might know me as the author of the bestselling series The Whispering Books, which recently hit the shelves in English. Ever since I was a teen, I’ve been hooked on fantasy—especially queer fantasy stories. My first gay fantasy novel is The Thief of the Moon Tear, and I’ll be launching it on Backerkit soon. I’ve also written a popular queer series called The Wizards of London (German: Die Hexer von London), and with your support, I’d love to make it available to English-speaking readers too!
For the English market, I decided to go with the pen name Nathan Parker Briggs. Why? Well, for one, I love the name Nathan, and honestly, I’ve always wanted a cool pen name. Let me tell you—it’s all incredibly exciting!
How about a bit more information on me? I write urban fantasy and romantic fantasy novels, and I’m a passionate fan of Scotland. In my spare time, I play countless board games and devour books like there’s no tomorrow. After all, reading is dreaming—and who would we be without our dreams?
I have a special fondness for English, Scottish, and Irish myths, which is why many of my books are set in Great Britain. Especially in London, with its diverse neighborhoods and rich cultural backgrounds, I find incredible potential for thrilling stories about magic, enchanted libraries, grumpy ghosts, and alluring witches and wizards.
What else do I love? Cats! My cat Alina is now over 17 years old—a well-groomed elderly lady who spends her days snoozing on the sofa or curled up in her cozy cat cave. Enviable, isn’t it? And I have a serious sweet tooth for ice cream, gummy bears, and cake.
