Moss, Stone & Steel is a fun, simple and immersive game system for roleplaying in a dark fantasy medieval or sword and sorcery setting, which promises to bring your characters and story to life with it's distinctive features. Let's go through the the unique features, so you know what we are looking to bring forth to the forefront of RPGs!
A Passion for Dark Fantasy
My goal is to revitalise the mythology and stories of old medieval and ancient times and allow the people of today to immerse themselves into the creatures and places that haunted the folk of yore. With this, we have intertwine our own original creatures and myths so construct a believable and engaging world for you to understand and enjoy!
Welcome to The Dark Earth
Experience a whole new world, known as Dark Earth, to bring to life the collective stories of mythological creatures to the table. We've hired talented artists to help bring the world to life. And since this is also intertwined with typical fantasy from mainly European mythology and history, there is also professional stock art used, even the public domain artworks from 19th century artists!
Low Magic Fantasy
Magic is a fabric of the world in Dark Earth, certainly, but it doesn’t consume it, as it does with many other fantasy settings and games. Moss, Stone & Steel has tailored the magic system make it a challenging, fun and unique ability.
Survival Based Combat: Stamina
Introducing the new mechanic of Stamina, where attacking with certain weapons cost’s a player character’s vigour, slowly exhausting them until they rest. No more repetitive, boring combat.
Trait Based System
No more levelling up slogs! Though Moss, Stone & Steel follows a levelling up system (currently to a maximum level of 8), unlike other TTRPGs that require you to wait a certain level for a specific feature, MSS allows players to choose from a pool of traits to enhance their character, no waiting necessary, so you could have five characters of the same class, but each one could be as different to the other!
A Simple Dice System
Using a 2d12 for almost all rolls for roleplay and combat, Moss, Stone & Steel uses a unique but simple and streamlined system to allow for a fluid and fun game for the whole table. Furthermore, the game itself has been thoroughly game tested and approved as a simple, fun and immersive style of play.
