Lead and Chrome is a tabletop roleplaying game set in a post-ecocide world where the oceans have dried up, nearly all life has gone extinct, and the small percentage of humans who survived now eke out a living in the ruins of the world their ancestors destroyed.

Games of Lead and Chrome are usually centered around a crew of 4-6 misfits piloting one or more vehicles across the wasteland in search of fame, riches, and glory. Each member of the crew has a unique set of talents that they bring to the table, and only by leveraging these special abilities and group synergies can they hope to survive in the barren wastes.

Although wandering the wasteland aimlessly could be a fun adventure in and of itself, usually the Game Master gives them a goal to pursue either at the beginning of the game or shortly thereafter. This could be searching for a fabled bunker full of old world supplies, seeking out a mythical paradise supposedly hidden among the sands, or just deposing the local jerkbag warlord and taking over his fortress for themselves. These goals usually take up several multi-hour sessions during which the players’ characters will acquire new items and abilities, strengthen, break, or redefine the bonds that tie them together, and ultimately see them grow (for better or worse) into more powerful forces to be reckoned with.

Once they achieve the goal presented to them by the Game Master, they can choose to end their story there. Alternatively, the Game Master can link together several goals to form a larger overarching campaign. This flexibility means Lead and Chrome can be a quick filler game to break up the monotony of game night, or the new focus of your gaming group for months, or even years, to come.

This 115 page book has rules for creating unique characters, assembling them into a functioning crew, and getting them armed, mobile, and ready to take on the wasteland. Once their journey begins, the latter half of this book has rules for dealing with hunger, thirst, and sanity as well as resource management to ensure they’re never too comfortable.

Lead and Chrome comes loaded with:

  • 6 Origins that help jumpstart your story. Are you a mutant from the deep deserts? Or were you raised in the luxury of a hidden fallout shelter?
  • 6 Archetypes that allow for varying playstyles. Do you like big guns and you cannot lie? Or do you prefer to defuse situations with a smile and a silver tongue?
  • 90 Traits that each grant unique passive and active effects. Forgo accuracy for volume of fire! Fix anything with bubblegum and duct tape!
  • 6 Vehicle Types to kit out just the way you want with over 100 Upgrades available!
  • 35 Wasteland Denizens, Monsters, and Example Vehicles ready to populate your take on the wasteland!
  • Weapons... lots and lots of weapons!

By backing this project, you can get your hands on a copy of Lead and Chrome in PDF, softcover, or hardcover format (or all three if you're truly a madman). To facilitate this, there are four tiers you can pledge at:

  • $1 Wall of Fame: Your name will be included in the credits of the book. Show it off to all your friends, and on your deathbed you can know you'll ride forever, shiny and chrome in the next life!*
*Afterlife of glory and hi-octane vehicular combat not guaranteed.
  • $10 Digital Tier: You get your name in the book plus a PDF copy.
  • $15 Softcover Tier: Name in the book plus both a PDF and softcover copy code.
  • $20 Hardcover Tier: Name -> Book. PDF + Hardcover copy code(Oh and it's a glorious hardcover...)

Every tier will get ALL unlocked stretch goals. We don't play favorites here. The PDF, softcover, and hardcover tiers (including the cost of printing for the latter two) are also 50% off their retail prices!

IMPORTANT NOTE: We're using DriveThruRPG to handle the printing and we're doing so via their Print-On-Demand service. So, at the conclusion of the campaign, everyone who backed at a tier that has a physical reward will get a code to print that reward through them at cost plus shipping. Right now, cost for the softcover is around $5 while the cost for the hardcover is around $10. Shipping will depend on your location.

The reason for using Print-On-Demand is it allows me to minimize risk while guaranteeing the lowest possible prices for you. it also helps with stability as DriveThruRPG are a well-known and established company with extensive resources so even with the world on fire (for real in some places) the numbers they quote shouldn't fluctuate too much regardless of outside forces.

Absolutely! What's a good crowdfunding campaign without Stretch Goals? We've got three queued up now with more to come once we surpass those!

  • $5,000 - Ghost Train Blues: A one-shot adventure set in the wasteland that sees a crew of survivors track down a fabled train full of supplies that's been running nonstop since the Collapse. Do they have what it takes to defeat the AI conductor and nab the score of a lifetime?
  • $7,500 - Dune Sea Monstrosities: This expanded bestiary contains new monsters and mutated creatures to populate the wasteland with from the Sandmaw to the Sinkfin.
  • $10,000 - Bosco's Bunker Blowout: Need more weapons? Of course you do! Good ole Bosco has opened up his military bunker for trade with the outside world, and that means an expanded armory of weapons, armor, and vehicle upgrades for you and your crew!

The core book is 100% complete and ready to go to print. The stretch goals are in various stages of completion, but should be in your hands no later than Q2 of 2025.

Those of you who pledge at any tier that gets a PDF copy of the book should get it within 2 weeks of the campaign ending, while the physical copies will go out 6-8 weeks after that.

My name's Benjamin! I write tabletop roleplaying game supplements for a living, mainly 5e compatible adventures, monsters, and more. I've also published several smaller independent games such as Night Work (think Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but Victorian London), Torch & Dagger (think D&D but darker and everything can kill you), and I AM NOT A ROBOT (Blade Runner but you're all replicants and everyone dies at the end).

You can check all those out and more over on my website!
