Trinity Continuum: Aegis is a game of epic adventure and exploration set during Greece’s Iron Age. The setting features figures and events from history and mythology, viewed through the lens of the Trinity Continuum. In this game you’ll play Champions, Oracles, and Olympians — characters who have come into contact with the mysterious substance called ambrosia and been transformed into Inspired individuals with powers similar to Talents, Psiads, and Novas millennia ahead of their counterparts’ times.  The Trinity Continuum Corebook is required to play this game.

These characters live in an age of wonder and discovery. People in the ancient world made amazing strides in science, exploration, and philosophy, all while grappling (sometimes literally!) with gods and monsters. About a decade ago, bright streaks flashed across the sky and a fiery object crashed into Mount Olympus. Other pieces landed throughout the world, creating heroes and horrors wherever they touched down.

Trinity Continuum: Aegis
continues to explore the Trinity Continuum’s themes of hope, sacrifice, and unity — in an age where societies are in decline and survival sometimes feels uncertain, these are the tenets under which people band together.

Epic Adventure.
This is a game about big, sweeping actions and over-the-top stories. Monsters are real and roam the world. Some are strange creatures, others are human. The characters face these things head on, using their wits, strength, and daring to forge stories that will echo through the ages.

Exploration and Discovery; Curiosity and Wonder. The world is huge, and much of it is uncharted. Characters who set sail run the risk of being blown off course in a storm and washing up on an island where a sorceress makes her home. That old cave no one ever ventures too far into holds a monster’s lair or the door to an Underworld. The cautious and the fearful stay far away; a Champion checks her map, lights her torch, and ventures within. She wants to know: What’s at the center of the labyrinth? Can you reason with Medusa? What’s the view like from atop Olympus?

Recognizing Your Potential. So, what makes a hero, exactly? Is it strength, cleverness, doing the right thing when the odds are against you? What are you capable of when you’re sure you’ve given it all you’ve got? What heights can you reach, that you didn’t know were within your grasp? Aegis encourages players to explore the answers.

This book includes rules for creating Champions, Oracles, and Olympians — Aegis’ superpowered heroes — and an overview of the Colleges they form; new Gifts tailored to the new character types; new rules for Dramatic Editing and Super Science, and new antagonists for your characters to face; and Storyguiding advice for running a game in the world of Aegis.

This book requires you to have a copy of the Trinity Continuum Core Rulebook, which contains rules for how to roll and interact with other Storypath systems, plus more Gifts, Edges, and Skill Tricks your characters can use in this game.

Trinity Continuum: Aegis contents, broken out by chapter:

  • Chapter One: The World of Aegis summarizes the world as it stood at the time of the starfall and what’s happened in the years since. It also introduces some of the strange places throughout the ancient world affected by ambrosia and other events, and some of the notable characters that can be found in those locations.

  • Chapter Two: Colleges presents the Colleges and counter-societies active in the world today that the characters might join or interact with, and the antagonists who provide challenges along the way.

  • Chapter Three: Inspired Characters introduces Champions, Oracles, and Olympians, the new types of Inspired characters available to play in Aegis. It discusses what makes each type of character unique, and delves into the themes their powers fall under.

  • Chapter Four: Character Creation walks players through creating characters for this game, and offers advice for adapting modern era Skills from the Trinity Continuum Core for this period. Additionally, it provides new Paths, Edges, and Skill Tricks for players to use.

  • Chapter Five: New Rules presents the ways characters interact with Dramatic Editing and Super Science in this era and explores the mysteries of ambrosia. It also provides new vehicle and equipment examples.

  • Chapter Six: Gifts provides rules for the powers Champions, Oracles, and Olympians wield. In addition to presenting new Gifts across all three character types, this chapter introduces Universal Gifts which can be taken by Inspired characters at any level.

  • Chapter Seven: Storyguiding Aegis discusses the types of stories you can tell in this setting, and includes safety rules to use at your table. It explores ways you can dial up or down the involvement of gods in your game. Finally, it provides new antagonists for your characters to face.

  • Appendix: Setting Secrets offers more information about what happened the night the skies lit up over Mount Olympus, and how the starfall affected locations throughout the world. It also provides advice for Storyguides to handle ways in which the characters’ actions might affect the timeline.

The primary purpose behind this crowdfunding campaign is to enable Onyx Path to create a hardcover edition of Trinity Continuum: Aegis compatible with the Trinity Continuum rulebooks (the Core Rulebook, Adventure!, Aether, etc.). Your support will allow Onyx Path to produce a fully-developed PDF and hardcover edition for this setting and rules expansion. With your help we hope to not only deliver a beautiful book to all of our backers, but also fund at least one print run to be sold through distribution and into book and hobby stores that are so vital to our community.

Exceptional funding may allow the Trinity Continuum team to explore more of the adventurous possibilities open to characters in this game, perhaps introducing additional locations, new gear and gadgets,  or even new adversaries and allies!. Additional support will provide the talented team behind the book with inspiration to unlock even more possibilities!

Beyond those campaign-specific goals, the hope is to do what these games have always done — build a community invested in each other's stories and shared imagination. Every person who participates is joining with the goal of bringing this game into the world, and that common goal is a powerful binding element that we can't help but want to share. When you back this project, you join us on this exciting journey and become part of our own allegiance.

All participants who would like to make this project happen can pledge their support and add to the overall campaign total. If the campaign meets the funding target ($20,000), then we will have funded the project and it will become a reality. Your pledge will only be collected if we achieve our funding target.

In thanks for your support, we offer rewards based on your level of funding pledged. The Pledge Allegiances outline the various rewards reflecting various levels of support pledged. Please note that international shipping costs ARE NOT included in the cost of your pledge. You will be charged for shipping after the campaign through the pledge manager.

DECIDING ON YOUR PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE

Digital vs Physical: do you save some shelf space and go digital-only with the PDF version or go all in with the hardcover version? Are you just interested in the new book created by this campaign, or looking to add extras with the Add-On options available as well? Please note that international shipping costs ARE NOT included in the cost of your pledge. You will be charged for shipping after the campaign through the pledge manager.

While the Trinity Continuum contains nearly-infinite possibilities and variations, we've tried to keep supporting this project as simple and straightforward as possible. To pledge support to this project, alight yourself with one of these pledge path tiers:

  • The Nautikoi: This is the PDF-only reward allegiance. So, if you're saving trees or saving shelf space - or avoiding the shipping charges that are absolutely ever-increasing - this is the reward tier options that you should begin with. The PDF will be fulfilled by our partners at DriveThruRPG.com - when it is ready, you will receive a link to add it to your DTRPG library at no cost and be able to download at your leisure.
  • The Society of the Lion: This reward allegiance includes the hardcover version of this book. Shipping costs ARE NOT included in the cost of your pledge. You will be charged for shipping after the campaign through the pledge manager.  In addition, this option also includes the PDF version, so you will get a digital copy as described above.

In addition to these primary reward pledge paths, we also offer the following options:

  • The Delphic League: Not ready to commit, or just looking to offer general support? This pledge allegiance is for you. This does not include our primary reward, but allows you to select some digital optional Add Ons, as well as participating in the post-campaign Pledge Manager as a backer. You'll also be able to read the draft manuscript of Trinity Continuum: Aegis that we post throughout this campaign.
  • Scribes of the Shell, Circle of Heroes: A few Reward Allegiances offer special limited premium rewards in addition to the basics, including an option to act as a Art Model or a chance to supply a name to be used by an NPC included in a supplement. Check each of the Pledge Tier descriptions for more details.

Need the Trinity Continuum Core Rules as well? They form the basic system upon which Trinity Continuum: Aegis (and all Trinity Continuum games) are built. We've set up these one-click pledge paths to get you started! If you don't already have a copy of the Trinity Continuum Core Rulebook, you soon will by choosing this reward tier.

  • The Fellowship of Āšipu: A digital entry into the Trinity Continuum, this pledge path contains PDF versions of both Trinity Continuum: Aegis as well as the Trinity Continuum Core Rules.

Finally, we love retailers, but modern publishing methods don’t always make it easy for them to get books into their stores. With this Trinity Continuum: Aegis campaign, we have created a special Reward Allegiance just for you.

  • Masters of Colchis: Any retailer who pledges at the Retail Reward Tier will get 5 copies of the Trinity Continuum: Aegis hardcover books (as well as the PDF versions) at a retail-specific discount so that they can sell in-store. You must have prior approval to back at this level, otherwise your pledge will be adjusted in our post-campaign Pledge Manager. Please contact [email protected] to confirm your eligibility.

ACCESS TO DRAFT MANUSCRIPT UPDATES – During the course of the campaign, we will be sharing the ENTIRE manuscript for Trinity Continuum: Aegis. Backers will be able to review the manuscript and share feedback with the developers as well.

TRINITY CONTINUUM: AEGIS PDF VERSION - The digital version of Trinity Continuum: Aegis, fulfilled by our partners at DriveThruRPG.com. Backers will receive redemption links for an early version of this book before it goes on sale to the public. This initial "Advance Version" will be used to get feedback from the fans to make the final version the best that it can be. When it has been updated to the final version, it will automatically be added to your DriveThruRPG library and available for download at your convenience.

TRINITY CONTINUUM: AEGIS HARDCOVER BOOK - The main goal of this campaign is to fund the creation, production, and print run of a hardcover edition of this book. Note that all Reward Tiers that include the physical hardcover version also include the digital PDF version as a bonus. Shipping costs ARE NOT included in the cost of your pledge. You will be charged for shipping after the campaign through the pledge manager.

OPTIONAL DISCOUNTED PoD VERSION – For this Trinity Continuum: Aegis campaign, you will have the option of using DriveThruRPG.com’s Print-On-Demand service to purchase a physical, printed copy of the PDF directly from their PoD partners at discounted cost (this cost is not included in your pledge, and you do not need to increase the cost of your pledge to use this option). When the PoD versions are available to order (which may be some time after the books have gone to print), you will receive links to purchase these versions of the books from DriveThruRPG.com. You DO NOT need to take advantage of this PoD offer as it does not affect in any way your pledge rewards.

Edit
In addition to the rewards listed in each Pledge Allegiance, backers can add extra options via the Add On menu associated with your reward format. Digital Rewards can be added to any pledge, while physical rewards can only be added to rewards lists that include a Trinity Continuum: Aegis hardcover book, and will therefore have a shippable order when information is downloaded in the fulfillment system.

Simply increase your pledge amount by the associated cost to cover these additional rewards, and then confirm your selection during the pledge process. These options will also be available to add in the post-campaign Pledge Manager.

Edit

As we increase the overall funding and support for the project, we’re able to add additional resources to the project, expand the rewards listed, and add in new offers and opportunities. Each Stretch Goal will have a target that, once reached, will add a project to the reward list for backers of the relevant Stretch Goal path. Whenever we achieve a stretch goal, the image will be updated to reflect the achievement.

Edit

International shipping has become increasingly expensive and is often prohibitive to non-US backers. Several contemporary publishers have decided to discontinue international shipping completely. For this project, Onyx Path wants to keep all options open to our customers, though shipping costs will reflect the expense.

PLEASE NOTE: Shipping costs ARE NOT included in the cost of your pledge. You will be charged for shipping—and have an opportunity to adjust your pledge—after the campaign through the pledge manager.

The following are estimates for shipping a copy of the hardcover book with full package tracking, projected on current trends. Please note that these are estimates only and are subject to change by the time of fulfillment (currently projected by May 2025)

  • DOMESTIC MEDIA MAIL (USA): $0 USD + $10 USD per additional book
  • CANADA: $45.00 USD +$15.00 USD per additional book
  • UNITED KINGDOM: $55.00 USD +$20.00 USD per additional book
  • EUROPEAN UNION: $60.00 USD +$20.00 USD per additional book
  • AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND: $75.00 USD +$25.00 USD per additional book
  • BRAZIL*: $80.00 USD +$25.00 USD per additional book
  • THE REST OF THE WORLD: $55.00 USD +$20.00 USD per additional book

Again, we will be charging the actual costs via our BackerKit pledge manager once the books are preparing to ship. These are estimated costs only, and the final costs charged will reflect the actual rates at the time of shipping.

*Orders to Brazil will be shipped with tracking numbers once only. Should the order become lost in customs processing or during last-mile delivery within Brazil, we'll need full payment of a second order before any re-ships can take place.

ALTERNATE OPTIONS FOR INTERNATIONAL BACKERS:

If you live outside of the US, here are your options for obtaining a physical copy:

  • Pledge to the campaign at the $25 The Nautikoi reward tier to get the PDF version plus a redemption code to purchase the print-on-demand version of the book at a discounted cost (plus shipping) from DriveThruRPG.com once it's available (see Reward Descriptions, above, for more details).
  • Pledge to the campaign at the $5 The Delphic League reward tier to get access to the preview manuscript. Later, you can buy the PDF and/or Print-on-Demand when eventually released.
  • Contact your local game store and make sure you're put on a preorder list so they know there's demand for the game that they're being asked to fill, and then encourage them to back at the Retailer Tier for this campaign!
  • Look into a freight forwarding service that can give you a US-based shipping address, get packages delivered to it, and then forwarded to you.
Edit

After the campaign is over we'll launch our BackerKit Pledge Manager and invite the backers to set up their rewards via survey. This allows you to confirm your pledge and add on anything that you might have missed, as well as possibly increasing your pledged reward tier, should you choose to expand your reward selection. This option will give international backers additional time to investigate shipping options, should they choose, knowing they can confirm a physical reward at a later date. We will also use BackerKit's Pledge Manager to charge actual shipping costs for international orders when we're approaching order fulfillment. Funding collected by BackerKit after the crowdfunding campaign does not count toward any campaign Stretch Goals, however.
