Centralize your ideas and get organized

Now that you have signed up for a BackerKit Creator Account and joined BackerKit’s Community Newsletter, it’s time to get organized.

Whether you have a few ideas jotted down in a notebook or have already spent a significant amount of time creating your game, it’s important that you centralize all your ideas and progress into one sharable place. Early drafts of your rule book, game component sketches, early artwork, market research notes, and the seemingly infinite amount of things you’ll need to keep track of should all be easily accessible. This will help you stay organized, and as your team inevitably grows, you’ll be equipped with a space to share progress, collaborate, and give feedback.

If you’re looking for a good place to start, you can’t go wrong with Google as they’ve pretty much thought of everything and offer it for free. Chances are you’ve already done this, but if not, activate your Google Drive to store all your docs, spreadsheets, and images. Create a new email account for your new brand, get your weekly workflow on track with a calendar, and get face time with collaborators using Google Meet. These are just a few of the fundamental organizational tools at your disposal.

There are many options out there for digital organization, so spend a little time discovering what works best for you and your team. Setting up an organized foundation will help keep you accountable as you move forward with your game idea.
